Christal Scribbles

What am I scribbling? Let me fill you in…

Welcome to my library

You’re probably wondering what a scribbler is. To the scribbler, uninteresting things are a masterpiece in the making. If you’re a creative observer, a learner, a dreamer then you have the heart of a scribbler.

This library is about discovery. I’ve always thought of my writing as stray thoughts waiting patiently to be written. That concept is what inspired this place. My goal is to make this site a useful resource to fellow scribblers on the craft of writing.

For now, if this is a fun bookshelf to peruse on a rainy day then it has fulfilled its purpose.

The bookshelf will always be a mess. But I hope it holds some inspiration for fellow scribblers.

The Resident Scribbler

Hi, I'm Christal

I teach writing at Utah Valley University. As a graduate from ISU’s MFA in Creative Writing and Environment, my pedagogy and projects often explore how writing can better foster environmental stewardship.

When I’m not writing, you can find me exploring the outdoors, tucked away in a cozy cafe, or huddled up in my home, scribbling, with candles and ambient music drifting out my bedroom window.

Writing is about observing and interpreting the world around me. My emotions, environment, and endeavors. My errors and terrors. My pleasures and self-indulgent whims… with words that only sometimes hold wisdom. Depending on the day, it can be peaceful or agonizing to scribble down my ideas. Nonetheless, it’s the challenge and insight of this process that keeps me going back.
